Subtitle Language: Korean with English subtitles

OLD PARTNER is a touching tale of companionship between an old ox and an even older master, Choi. Choi is 80-years-old and nearly deaf, but he still instinctively turns to his ox when he hears the sound of the cowbell. After 30 years together, Choi is deeply troubled when he learns that his old friend only has a year to live.

This film chronicles an astounding relationship, while bringing back memories of times gone by. It’s a bittersweet tale of forgotten nostalgia set in beautiful countryside that has been irreversibly eroded by western ways and the economic development of a country.

OLD PARTNER draws on the traditions of Korean folk paintings detailing the empathy between oxen and their fathers. A dedication between man and beast that may well be the last of its kind in this day and age.
