Beeswax

BEESWAX revolves around the personal and professional lives of twin sisters – Jeannie, who has been in a wheelchair since youth, and Lauren (same face, different bodies). Jeannie co-owns a vintage clothing store with her semi-estranged friend Amanda, while Lauren is between jobs, between boyfriends, and considering going overseas to teach English.
Tensions mount between Jeannie and Amanda as their management styles clash. When Jeannie receives an email from Amanda threatening a lawsuit, Jeannie calls on her law student ex-boyfriend, Merrill, to assist her. Lauren, on the other hand, gets roped into a familial obligation with her mother and has to deal with her mother’s partner, Sally. Eager for a distraction from his own problems, Merrill begins helping the sisters with theirs.
Imbued with an innate charm, BEESWAX is a story about families, friends, lovers and those awkward moments that bring them all together.
Director of FUNNY HA HA and MUTUAL APPRECIATION, Andrew Bujalski’s BEESWAX is a continuation of his history of creating domestic visual poetry that borders on novelty. Bujalski has been awarded grants from foundations such as the Tribeca Film Foundation and won the IFP Someone to Watch award.
