Original isn’t easy!

Terrific in 2010!
Simply put, the 11th anniversary edition of the Calgary International Film Festival promises to provide moviegoers with the very best of the best in contemporary cinema.
While 2009 saw the launch of the internationally renowned Mavericks brand, 2010 will prove that CIFF’s renegade spirit of showcasing unprecedentedly original filmmaking has spread like wildfire across the entire fest. Every genre, film, special presentation and gala event will capture the unparalleled energy of the first 10 years, taking the existing excitement, intrigue, mystery and romance… and turning it up to 11.
Infectious, Inspiring, International
The CIFF 2010 programming team has crafted a line-up of the very best in filmmaking from around the world, and is set to deliver both film titles and festival genres that are certain to resonate with local and visiting audience members alike.
With a fresh take on returning favourites and a new spin on a number of themes, the 2010 festival program will present Canadian and international films from more than 100 countries in categories like Features, Shorts, Documentaries and more, and through series such as Music on Film, Late Shows, American Indie, Family, World Cinema, and the cheeky Hump Night collection of risqué filmmaking, to name a few. Add in the prestigious Youth-By-Youth Cinema and Mavericks competitions, and you’ve got yourself one wild and worldly fest.
Dive In
It’s easier than ever for you to grab CIFF by the horns and get involved this year. Festival Central in Eau Claire Market is your one-stop-Box-Office-shop, not only for tickets and passes, but for filmmaker interviews, scheduling information, newsy developments and conversations around all things Calgary Film Fest. You don’t have to be a critic, expert or industry insider – Festival Central welcomes one and all, swinging open its doors on Eau Claire’s second floor on September 1st, and remaining open weekday afternoons right through until October 3rd.
Talk of the Town
The only people who love the Calgary International Film Festival partners, sponsors, volunteers and host venues more than we do are the loyal patrons of CIFF itself. This year we bring you the most social Film Fest stops in town, specially designated as CIFF “Hot Spots” where food, drink and film lovers collide in vibrant venues sure to be hopping from noon ‘til night. Pre- or post-screening, allow us to point you and your pals towards a guaranteed good time.
1 + 1 Makes 11
As CIFF turns eleven and endeavors to further establish its brand both locally and internationally, we need you more than ever. Your support helps us bring the best contemporary films and filmmakers on the planet together with Calgary audiences year after year. Film is art, culture and everything in between, and if you love what we do, please show your support by purchasing tickets, becoming a “Friend of the Festival,” or participating in whatever capacity you can. We just can’t do this without you, nor would we want to!
Now, get ready to kick up your heels, make some new friends, and get fired up about film in the city where culture grows, creativity rules, enthusiasm abounds, and anything is possible…
